LISA ZADEK, violin

Lisa Zadek began studying violin at age 4 ½ with George Nagata, and started piano lessons at age 7. She received her Bachelors of Music degree with an emphasis on violin performance from San Francisco State University and continued there with graduate studies. In 1986, she became a member of the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra and has been performing with them since. Highlights have included performing with the Bolshoi and Stuttgart Ballet companies, as well as with the Mark Morris Dance Company under the Cal Performances umbrella.

Ms. Zadek is an active free-lance musician in the Bay Area and has performed with the San Jose, Monterey, Modesto, Napa Valley, and Santa Cruz Symphony Orchestras. She has performed in Prague and Dresden with Viva la Musica and is looking forward to the upcoming concerts in the Baltics and St. Petersburg this fall.

Ms. Zadek has worked at the San Francisco Symphony for over 13 years as the Artistic Planning Manager. Ms. Zadek coordinates the two chamber music series presented by SF Symphony. One of the chamber music series is musician-driven and includes a six concert series.

The other chamber music series is held at the Palace of Legion of Honor in their Florence Gould Theater and showcases the violin Heifetz bequeathed to the museum, a 1742 Guarneri del Gesu violin on loan to the SF Symphony’s concertmaster, Alexander Barantschik. Ms. Zadek has also managed the SF Symphony’s special chamber music concerts that have included guest artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Yuja Wang, Yefim Bronfman, Jonathan Biss, Jeremy Denk, Thomas Ades and John Adams.
