PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

Autumn is here!

On September 16, we celebrated the beginning of our new garden club season with a wonderful chicken salad luncheon, prepared by Kathleen Fong. Thank you, Kathleen, for preparing a beautiful plated luncheon for all of us to enjoy! Claudia Belshaw and Ann Rieger-Matthews were the hosts of the event. Thank you also to Jamie Wong for helping to set up the tables and thanks to Anna Bolechowski and Nancy Hagosian for arranging flowers and setting tables. We also celebrated Ingeborg McGlynn’s joyous 90th birthday with a special floral arrangement created expressly for her by Yen Bachmeier! There were some homemade delicious chocolate cupcakes to help finish our meal. Thanks to Ann Rieger-Matthews. There were 34 people attending the event. We had a great afternoon and time to leisurely enjoy the lunch and chat with friends and meet new members.

We hope to see everyone for our next event on October 21, at 1:00pm. The topic will be “The Legion of Honor Turns 100: Its origins, Architecture, and Inaugural Art”, presented by docent Virginia Ernster. Since its dedication to the city on November 11, 1924, the Legion of Honor has welcome visitors with its world-class European art collection and sweeping views of the Golden Gate. This year marks the museum’s 100th anniversary as part of the Bay Area’s vibrant cultural community. Yen Bachmeier has arranged the presentation with the FAMSF and Saundra McCormick will be chairing the event. Bring your friends. Guest fee is a modest $10.
