Dr. Christian Meyer Introductions
Dr. Christian Meyer has been the Director of the Arnold Schönberg Center Private Foundation since 1997, a Center for exhibitions, concerts and lectures, as well as a repository for the extensive Arnold Schönberg Legacy, consisting of music and text manuscripts, paintings, a library, and historical photographs. At the beginning of 1998, Dr. Meyer transferred the collections from Los Angeles to Vienna, and as early as March, 1998, was able to open the Center with a comprehensive special exhibition and a week-long “Schönberg Festival.” In 2000, Dr. Meyer conceived of and curated the successful, special exhibition at the Arnold Schönberg Center: “Schönberg, Kandinsky, Blauer Reiter and the Russian Avantgarde – Art belongs to the unconscious.”
Preceding this, Dr. Meyer was an active member of Management for the Vienna Konzerthaus, as well as part of the International Management Team of the Bösendorfer Piano Factory. Since 2002, Meyer has been a member of the Bösendorfer Advisory Board, and from March, 2003, personal advisor to the owner.
Dr. Meyer has curated international exhibitions festival programs and also served as advisor on many opera and theater projects, among them the Volkstheater, Josefstadt Theater, and the Deutsche Oper, Berlin. He worked for several years in the Curatorship of the Vienna Festival (Wiener Festwochen) and was Business Manager of Peter Stein’s performance of Goethe’s Faust I and II at Expo 2000 in Hannover, Berlin and Vienna. Since 2000, Meyer is a Member of the Board of the Leopold Museum Private Foundation.
Born in Vienna, December 14, 1962, he lives in Vienna with his wife, Elisabeth, and their three sons.
