Vincent Lucas Flute
Vincent Lucas began studying the flute at the Conservatoire of Clermont-Ferrand, which he entered at the age of 8, and during the 1982-83 season he joined both the French National Youth Orchestra and the French-German Young Philharmonic.
At the age of 16, he won First Prize at Radio Prague’s International Radio Competition and was the soloist in concerts around Czechoslovakia.
Mr. Lucas attended the Conservatoire Supérieur de Music de Paris, where he studied with Michel Debost, former solo flute of the Orchestre de Paris, and took a first prize in 1984.
In 1989 he was invited to join the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under Claudio Abbado, and in 1994 he returned to his home country to assume the principal flute position in the Orchestre de Paris under Christoph Eschenbach. He continues in that position today and is also a distinguished professor at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Paris.
