UPCOMING EVENTS:

-September Program: " Bay Area Beauty: The Artistry of Harold Stoner " presented by author Jacquie Proctor.
Come hear the surprising story of this artistic Englishman -- one of San Francisco’s most prolific – yet unknown architects. If your home was built in the 1920s or 30s, it may have been designed by the same man who created the Art Deco entrance to the Sutro Baths, the medieval hilltop mansion for Adolph G. Sutro, or even Sally Rand’s Nude Ranch at the Golden Gate International Exposition in 1939. Harold Stoner designed dozens of homes in and around Forest Hill, along with others you will recognize in West Portal, St. Francis Wood, Balboa Terrace, Monterey Heights, and Lakeside. Jacquie will read excerpts from a rare 1923 article celebrating Forest Hill and present some of the nearly 400 images featured in her book – including the interiors of two Forest Hill homes toured by tens of thousands in the 1920s.

-October Program: "Musee d' Orsay Post Impressionist Masterpieces"
Join us for the hottest cultural program in town on Monday, October 18th at 1:30PM when SF Fine Arts Museums Docent - Kate Sculti presents us with a lecture slide show of the de Young Museum special event that is taking the town by storm. "The Post Impressionist masterpieces, following the Spring exhibit of "The Birth of Impressionism" pay a onetime visit to America. "Once they return to the Orsay, they will never again be loaned out for exhibition as a group" according to French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Don't miss this exciting program in our clubhouse. Hear the lecture and see the slide masterpiece paintings by Gaugin, Seurat, Van Gogh, Rousseau, and Cezanne - and bring a friend!

-November Program: Bookfest and Food Drive
Watch for announcement coming soon.

-December Program: Holiday Dinner Dance
Save the date! The theme this year is White Christmas with music by Irving Berlin on Monday, December 6.

-April Program: Spring Community Service
Back by popular demand, we will assemble toiletry bags for battered women's shelters. Please start collecting small toiletries: soaps, shampoos, conditioners, combs, perfumes, cosmetics, etc. Clorinda Aldrich will collect your contributions at each general meeting. With your help this event will again be very successful.
